Arranged Marriage Romance Novel Review: Married At First Sight
Married At First Sight tells us a story about a woman named Serenity Hunt, who was kicked out of her sister’s home just because her sister’s family moves to Dutch and they want to cut their living expenses. So, the already-homeless Serenity is desperate for any relationships that lead to marriage.
After all, marriage seems to be the only solution for her to get out of her homelessness, even if Married At First Sight sounds like a gambling idea for her. At the same time, the attractive-looking billionaire, Zachary York, is her husband on paper, thanks to Grandma May, Zachary’s Nana’s, interference.
Bad news: Zachary is not a romantic guy. Also, he has several failed relationships despite his successful status. Still, are there possibilities of the stories of Married At First Sight turning out to be fairytale-like stories for both Zachary and Serenity?

Part 1: Meet The Characters Of Married At First Sight
Serenity Hunt
Serenity Hunt, the female MC of Married At First Sight, has been kicked out of her sister’s home.
Even though the novel only mentions that her sister’s family kicks her out for the sake of cutting their expenses while they are on their Dutch trips, I am sure that Serenity has an unloving family. Another thing, she becomes the wife on paper of Zachary York, a young-but-cold-and-unlucky billionaire, thanks to Grandma May’s interference.
Zachary York
At first, Zachary York, the male MC of Married At First Sight, appears to have it all: A handsome face, shining self-confidence, and attractive amounts of wealth. He is also popular with girls.
However, his unromantic and no-nonsense behaviors lead him to be unlucky with his romantic relationships in his thirties. It is also his Nana who forces him to meet Serenity Hunt and take her as his wife.
Part 2: The Classical-Yet-Interesting Pieces Of Story From Married At First Sight Novel
Like most other romance novels, the first chapter of Married, At First Sight, talks about the lives of Serenity Hunt and her sister’s family of three. Even though it’s not directly mentioned in the first few chapters of this novel, I am pretty sure that Serenity is some sort of a scapegoat for her sister’s family.
Given the total of all family members, Serenity shouldn’t be the only one to be set up as a homeless woman. Yet, that’s what Serenity’s so-called families decide for her to be. As I read more paragraphs on the Married At First Sight novel, I get a sense that their Dutch trips and the facts that living abroad costs more money are only their alibis to set up for Serenity’s homelessness.
Further facts about Serenity as the female MC of Married At First Sight novel and the (possible) scapegoat of the family also include the fact that she is both friendless and boyfriend-less. Yet, marriage seems to be the only solution that she can think of in getting out of her homelessness conditions. Long story short, an old woman who calls herself Grandma May rescue her.
Grandma May has a son named Zachary York, and all of them are billionaires. Saddened by her grandson’s terrible luck with women, Nana forces Zachary to marry Serenity. Therefore, the marriage between the two MCs becomes the beginning of the stories in Married At First Sight… Whether both parties like it or not.

Part 3: Meet The Author Of Married At First Sight
I would say that Gu Lingfei, the author of Married At First Sight, is one of the most amazing authors. Of course, there have been so many Asian authors writing romance and arranged marriage stories. However, not many Asian authors picture Western elements in the novel as vividly as Gu Lingfei.
Since Gu Lingfei comes from a country that bans almost all of the world’s popular social media, it’s normal for us to not be able to find her social media presence. However, we can be sure that Gu Lingfei as the author of Married At First Sight is a successful author.
First of all, the Married At First Sight novel has already gotten above 4 out of 5 ratings. It is also one of the longest-running novels ever, with 1,944 chapters in total. Such massive amounts can still rise because the status is “Ongoing”.
Part 4: Alternative Of Married At First Sight Novel
Speaking of romance stories with huge doses of arranged marriage scenes, Dreame is the home for such novels.
Personally, I would recommend The Unwanted Bride Of Atticus Fawn: It’s like a darker and more twisted alternative to Married At First Sight. No such thing as reciprocal love in Dreame’s The Unwanted Bride Of Atticus Fawn, yet, that’s what makes the stories even more captivating to read.
Another love interest in The Unwanted Bride Of Atticus Fawn on the Dreame platform also becomes the highlight that makes the stories feel even more twisted. Another highlight that becomes my reason to make this novel a great alternative to Married At First Sight is also the characteristics of the unwanted bride that Atticus needs deep down in his heart.
Summary of The Unwanted Bride Of Atticus Fawn:
The Unwanted Bride Of Atticus Fawn tells us a story about an arranged marriage between a handsome-looking but cold-hearted man named Atticus Fawn and a woman named Autumn Rivera.
Upon reading the first few portions of this Dreame novel, I have an impression that Atticus’ mother behaves a lot like Zachary’s Nana in Married At First Sight. She appears concerned about Atticus’ romantic life. However, Atticus doesn’t “play” with tests like Zachary; instead, he proves to the readers that he loves Anya more than Autumn.
In my opinion, The Unwanted Bride Of Atticus Fawn also becomes one of the most recommendable alternatives to Married At First Sight, because Autumn has several characteristics that Atticus needs in his life… And it sorts of becoming the take-home lesson.
